In a recent interview, former World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler Chris Kanyon revealed that he is a homosexual<\/a>. Why applaud the man for being able to finally stop living a lie, I must say that I am a bit annoyed by his way of doing it. He claims that he was really let go from the WWE<\/acronym> because he was gay and that he is the first openly gay wrestler. I’m sure Kanyon expects this to put him in the news again and might get him some work, but he’s forgetting about one thing.<\/p>\n

Pat Patterson<\/a><\/p>\n

Pat Patterson is one of Vince McMahon<\/a>‘s close friends and is the godfather of Vince’s daughter Stephanie<\/a>. Patterson was a booker in WWE<\/acronym> and is a retired professional wrestler. His homosexuality is well known to any wrestling fan that was watching back in the Attitude Era<\/a> when good ole JR<\/abbr> would regularly make comments like he’s single, fellas<\/q> during his commentary.<\/p>\n

Why would higher ups, including a homosexual, fire one of their athletes because he was gay? They had the man jump out of a create singing “Do you really want to hurt me?” by Boy George. I’d bet dollars to donuts that they knew long before he was fired that he was gay, and would probably have actually used it in an angle if he felt comfortable admitting it then. It is not surprising that WWE<\/acronym> couldn’t think of anything else for him to do. WWE<\/acronym> isn’t that creative. Kanyon let his lack of a push affect him, and his matches weren’t the best around the time of his release (though they certainly weren’t bad either, he could still tell an interesting story in his matches).<\/p>\n

If Kanyon really believed that he was discriminated against in WWE<\/acronym> because he was gay, he would be suing them right now, rather than blasting them in arenas. He is looking for attention and is doing it in the worst way possible. Heck, the fact that he admitted it in front of a wrestling crowd makes me think that the whole damn thing is a work.<\/p>\n

Isn’t it disgusting that the crap WWE<\/acronym> puts out and WCW<\/acronym> put out has desensitized me to the point where I think a person coming out of the closet has to be part of some storyline? Please stick to having phenomenal wrestling rather than shock and awe story lines, Total Nonstop Action (TNA). I’d love to be able to call myself a fan of some company that doesn’t try to offend people (even if their feds<\/abbr> acronym suggests something completely different from what the company is all about).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
